About Me

Cloud Engineer and Hardware Nerd

I am a Cloud Engineer working on AWS, Azure, Infrastructure & Automation, and GitOps / Kubernetes. I like to continuously expand my knowledge using my HomeLab environment to deploy and experiment with open source technologies.

My motto: "Boil things down to the most fundamental truths and reason up from there."

Hobbies

  • Spending time with my family - we love to be outdoors when the weather is nice.
  • Creating things in the home recording studio.
  • Building PCs and other projects with our kids.
  • Constantly learning through hands-on experimentation - diving into new open-source projects, spinning up tools in my homelab, and breaking things just to figure out how they really work.
  • Working on cars, constantly talking about Tesla.

HomeLab Environment

I run a full UniFi ecosystem for networking and management. The top patch panel handles all 1 Gb devices plus a handful of 2.5 Gb clients. Directly below it sits my 10 Gb switch, dedicated to high-bandwidth gear: the Dell R730xd, UniFi UNAS Pro, and a few UniFi U7 Pro XG access points with 10 Gb uplinks. Yes, it’s complete overkill.

In the back of the rack are three Minisforum MS-01 mini-PCs serving as my Kubernetes cluster nodes. Each runs both control-plane and worker roles for a fully HA control plane, and they’re all mounted in custom 3D-printed 1U rack ears.
